Sandy Posey is one of the most prolific female recording artists of the 1960s. Her international fame as a Country and Pop singing star has her poised as a probable Country Music Hall of Fame inductee. Sandy was born in Jasper, Alabama. She was first introduced into the music business when she moved to Memphis as a teenager. Her dynamic vocals soon had her singing back-up for a number of major recording studios, including Sun Records. In Memphis she sang back-up for the legendary Elvis Presley on "In The Ghetto," "The Wonder Of You," and "Kentucky Rain." She was also heard on Percy Sledge's classic, "When A Man Loves A Woman." By 1966, the beautiful Ms. Posey had recorded her own #1-hit song. "Born A Woman" also became her first gold record. Sandy had another hit that same year when she released "Single Girl." Like vintage wine, Sandy Posey's rich, powerful and well-controlled vocals only seem to improve with each passing year. On this collection of American Country Bluegrass, Sandy showcases her magnificent voice as she sings the traditional classics that mean so much to us all.
