STANLEY BROTHERS~What A Friend We Have In Jesus~ BLUEGRASS IS TIMELESS
Bluegrass is timeless. For decades, Bluegrass Music was enjoyed by the relative few when compared to the mainstream musical genres. Today, Bluegrass Music is more popular than ever before. That fact brings to mind an old mountain saying: The cream always rises to the top of the bucket.
Ralph and Carter Stanley are the Stanley Brothers. They rank among the top Bluegrass players of all-time. Only Bill Monroe, Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs entered into the prestigious Blue grass Hall of Honor prior to them. As of late, a turn of events brought about a renewed appreciation for Bluegrass music. As a result, the Stanley Brothers are more popular than ever.
Ralph Stanley won his first Grammy award in 2002. At the age of 75, he received Best Male Country Vocal Performance for Oh Death. His song gained international notoriety after it was heard in the blockbuster motion picture O Brother, Where Art Thou. The same night, he also received a Grammy when the movies soundtrack was awarded Album Of The Year. Over the course of his life, Ralph Stanley has received other awards and recognitions for his role in the development and refinement of Bluegrass Music. That night at the Grammys, however, was a crowning touch to a career that had started so many years ago in the Clinch Mountain area of West Virginia.
